ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC claimed he is ‘by far’ the best player in the MLS and lashed out at ex-Arsenal man Carlos Vela in the process.

The maverick Swede made the comments ahead of Saturday’s LA derby which sees his LA Galaxy face Vela’s LA FC.

Speaking to ESPN , Zlatan, 37, said the significant age difference between the pair proves who is the superior player.

Asked whether he was better than Vela, 30, Ibrahimovic pulled no punches.

BRUTAL

He said: “By far, because if he’s in his prime… How old is he? Twenty-nine?

“And he’s playing in MLS and he’s in his prime.

“When I was 29 I was in Europe.

“Big difference.”

The ex- Manchester United , Barcelona and Inter Milan forward scored the winner against LA FC in his MLS debut in 2018 and says he lives for derbies.

He added: “The atmosphere keeps me alive, that keeps me on my toes.

“Hopefully it will be a nice atmosphere like that on Friday.

“I think it will be. It gives you energy it gives you adrenaline.

And after the video surfaced online, fans were quick to react to the trademark Zlatan footage.

K.O Black tweeted: “Zlatan is such big mood, you can’t hate him.”

While another said: “That mentality… something else!”

However, not everyone was so keen on his statements.

Erike Guerrero said: “Different types of players, completely.

“When he starts calling out other players, that’s when his faux-bravado gets too far and isn’t funny or entertaining anymore.”

Mad how he’s 37 and if Zlatan wanted he could easily get a move back to a top European team. I love Vela, but there’s levels to this… — alex (@alexgaertner7) July 18, 2019
