CHELSEA starlet Jamie Cumming has signed a new four-year deal with the Blues.

The young goalkeeper, who joined the club when he was eight, will be Frank Lampard’s third-choice shot-stopper in the 2019/20 season.

Cumming, 19, has played in three pre-season games this summer – the 1-1 draw with Bohemians, 4-0 rout of St Patrick’s and 4-3 victory over Reading .

The keeper is yet another Blues youngster who decided to commit his future to Stamford Bridge.

Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have both penned new contracts with the club this summer.

While Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to follow suit – with Lampard already proving he will rely heavily on the Chelsea academy’s products during his reign.

I’ve been here since the age of eight so to sign a new contract that keeps me here until I’m 23 is a great achievement. Jamie Cumming

Cumming has said signing a new deal is “a great achievement” and is looking forward to playing under Lamps next season.

He told the club’s website: “It’s brilliant news, a very proud moment for me and my family.

“I’ve been here since the age of eight so to sign a new contract that keeps me here until I’m 23 is a great achievement.

“I’m now really looking forward to the new season.

“It’s a great time for young players at Chelsea .

“We have a manager who is willing to put his trust in young players if they deliver and it’s been brilliant for me personally to get some minutes in pre-season.

“The Reading game was a great experience because it was probably the most people I’ve ever played in front of and for the manager to put his trust in me was a massive positive.

“Playing in front of the Chelsea fans for the first time was brilliant.

“We started well in pre-season and there have been lots of positives from each game but lots of things to work on as well and that’s what pre-season is for.”
